U.S. Catfish Industry to be featured on Good Eats – Thursday, April 8, 2010

Alton Brown on the set of Good Eats, featuring U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish The U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish industry will be honored as the focus of chef Alton Brown's wildly popular television program, Good Eats, which premiers on the Food Network on Thursday, April 8th at 7 p.m. CDT.

After being presented with information about the industry through The Catfish Institute's (TCI) sponsorship of the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Cooking For Solutions event, Brown and his Good Eats crew became very interested in creating an episode that focuses on the sustainable U.S. Catfish industry.

With TCI's assistance, Brown and his crew visited several pond locations in Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi before selecting Miller Catfish Farm in Greensboro, Ala., as the site for the TV shoot.

"Alton Brown is as much an educator as he is a chef," said Roger Barlow, TCI president. "This episode will spend a full 30 minutes explaining the many positive characteristics of U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish — from the difference between wild-caught and farm-raised catfish, to our industry's sustainable farming practices, to the fish's healthfulness, mild flavor and versatility."
